Now, Charley is learning to make peace with the fact that she is a goddess with all kinds of power and that her own daughter has been born to save the world from total destruction. But the forces of hell are determined to see Charley banished forever to the darkest corners of another dimension. With the son of Satan himself as her husband and world-rocking lover, will Charley be able to defeat the ultimate evil and find a way to have her happily ever after after all?
This is going to get a little gushy and fangirl-y, y’all, so hang in there with me.
First of all, I love this whole series. So many long-running paranormal series lose their luster after the first few books (*cough*Anita Blake*cough*Sookie Stackhouse*), but not this one. Every time I finish one of these books, I start glancing at the calendar nervously, wondering what I’m going to read to occupy the time until the next one is released, which is exactly where I’m at right now.
Holy book hangover, folks! I held off reading this book as long as I could and tried to ration my chapters to make it last longer, but just as I knew I would, I started reading and couldn’t put the darn thing down until I was done. That was two days ago. I haven’t been able to read anything else since. I’m still too caught up in the Charley Davidson world to move on just yet.
This book has everything fans of the series have come to expect:
Did I mention that this book has plenty of Reyes, who is arguably the hottest romance hero who ever graced a page? In case I didn’t, my fellow Reyes fangirls won’t be disappointed with this one.
I will warn you, though. There’s one point at the end where I actually screamed, “No!” aloud while reading one night. (My dog was very concerned about me) It’s an epic cliffhanger. Normally I hate cliffhangers with a fiery passion only rivaled by my hatred of John Mayer music and Negan on The Walking Dead. But I’m going to look on the bright side of this cliffhanger. The fact that this book wasn’t wrapped up in a neat and tidy HEA bow means that there are more books in the series to come.
And I will be sitting right here, glancing nervously at my calendar, waiting to buy and read those books the moment they become available.
Right. Here. Waiting.
Long-story-short: If you’re not reading this series, I pity you. Pull yourself together and go buy books 1-11 right now.
Full disclosure: the publisher generously provided an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
